Re:Magnetic oil drain plug size 4 Months, 1 Week ago

I went to put the new magnetic plug in place and found that if I installed it there would be a chance it would leak because if you look at the pics I uploaded just inside the red marked areas the metal is raised and the washer and head of the drain plug are overlapping the ridge. So .....I bought the 14M-1.5 plug that all seem to have bought....is this ridge just on my bike ???? I am wondering if I can shave the ridges down with my dremel or put the washer and the plug to my grinder....any thoughts would be appreciated...Coug

Just wipe the surface of the plug opening and put yer plugs and gaskets in ..you will be fine...what ever you do.. dont grind anything.... ya might cause your self grief... and cause leaks
you are worrying too much....just dont over tighten the plugs and check for leaks but I bet you will be fine

Put a magnet on your filter. No fit problems and you trap the junk in the filter instead of the motor.

if you are using a gasket it should press down onto the surface ok... unless the new plug is much bigger than the OEM ... is it ??? or just over lapping a tiny bit.

I'm cheap. I tore apart an old hard drive. The magnets are small but strong.
