Fringe? On my levers... But... 1 Month ago
Ever since I put the forward control brackets on the floorboards, I've felt like their new position looks kinda awkward, even though it feels great to drive with.
So, last Friday I went to the upholstery shop and bought 4 square feet of upholstery grade leather and spent all day Saturday studding and cutting strips in it to make floorboard fringe. (Buttons and leather came to $50 and change...)
Come Sunday, everything is on and I think they look great! The misses, on the other hand, thinks that I should be strapping on my "six shooter", ten gallon hat and spurs before I head out for a ride... (She say's they make her feel like Annie Oakley.)
So, I ask you all... Whaddya think? Cleaned up floorboards, or Yippee-Kay-O...?

As a matter o' fact... Whaddya y'all think about fringe in general?

Good job

If you like them that's all that counts.

It's not my cup of tea, I'm just not a fringe type of guy, but you did a heck of a job on it, and it's better than looking at the bottom of a floorboard..

You did a heck of a good job! I don't usually like that kind of thing myself, but it doesn't look bad at all. Most of all though, as the others have said, if you like it - that is all that matters!

I think it looks like you found your-self a part time job fabricating floorboard covers Looks better than the bottom of the boards. You might want to leave the spurs at home though

By the way,how did you attach them to your boards. I like the studded strip around the board edege.

Like the rest said, if you like them that's what counts.
Myself I didn't like fringe but after looking at your floorboard a few times, I think I'm starting to.
(after looking at it again) Not that it matters, but I like it!

How funny that you mention this today. My wife & I were having the discussion yesterday about what my dream biek would be if I had my choice from the world. Personally it would be a white bike with black leather and chrome with leather fringe from the floorboards, seat handlebars and bags. One of my first motorcycle memories is seeing a white indian all pimped out with leather & fringe.

I left about 3" of untouched hem on the top of the leather sheet... Pulled off the rubber pads and used contact cement on the back of the leather and on the boards... The studs went on at 1-1/2 inch from the edge of the hem (half way between the top of the sheet and the fringe...) I used them as the edge guide...
