The next time you fill up check to see if they are adding Ethanol, it cuts mileage down as well ..and you might take a peek at your plugs and see what they look like..Coug

I just checked my mpg on a run down from Maine to NH. The bike is stock except for Roadhouse Doolies (the sig pic is old, no mods to carb or aircleaner). For a large part of the run I was on Route 1 and anyone who has riden that along the coast knows it is stop and go all the way for about 50 miles. The rest of the run was on highway at 80+ (130 miles).
Net result was 46 mpg
Better than the 19 mpg my wife got driving the family truckster

42 - 43 would be my norm. I have gotten as much as 47 on long rides. 50 would be exceptional.

I was in the mid 40s than changed my pips from road house to cobra and now I'm at 38mpg. Ya know, even if my bike was a bigger gas hog then my truck, I'd choose to ride

I have been averaging 45+ all summer. I got over 50 two times in three+ years, both stock both highway but neither really babying it...since adding the Cobra LoBoy shotguns, the K&N filter and kit and redoing the carb...my best is 49+ and I do not baby it but I do not ride it like I stole it either.
I consider myself an average rider meaning I race it around now and then but for the most part just ride it normal...no jack rabbit hole shots, no lugging either
Regards, Ted

OK, thanks for the feedback guys. I went to fill up yesterday after work and it was at 39 MPG and that was, like i said, 95% highway @ 60 mph and easy on the throttle. I've got the stock headers with hard-krome mufflers and the 'star accessories' air filter. I don't know about carb work since I haven't had the time to open it up or even clean it since I got it.
One thing that worries me a bit is that it misfires every so often when i give it gas to take off from idle so it may be either a foul plug or the air/fuel ratio. can't be sure until it's opened up. Has anyone ever experienced misfires on a bike with so few miles? (about 9k)

I'm getting a constant 48-50 MPG. My bike is completely stock. I am considering changing out the front pulley to a 33 tooth to help increase the mileage even further. I'm not hard on the throttle at all, so getting on it at the line isn't my thing. I would prefer higher top end speed with lower RPM.

My 04 Silverado w/o windshield consistently get 45-47 mpg. Highway (Hilly and flat country roads)with some pulse raising acceleration starts. in New England. Speed 50-65 mph. Bike has BAK. Barons jet kit 4th clip, PMS 3, Cobra 2-1 New straight muffler w/ baffles. Purrrrs sweet and more power. If you are not getting good mileage and have changed pipes, and w/o baffles, You may be scavenging unburned fuel from your pipes. Scott at Baron's has been right on in dialing in for performance. Good Luck

I have 9k on my 06 Midnight Silverado now and have been getting 40 mpg pretty regularly this season with varied types of riding. I have Stage 1 alterations to the stock pipes. Friday evening I decided to try trimming the choke knob 1/8" and went for a 150 mile ride on Saturday with no highway riding. Speeds ranged up to 70 and when I filled the R* up, my mileage was 50.9 mpg. I will have to keep track of her and see how she does. One thing I am sure of is that trimming the choke knob made some kind of difference - she didn't like it at all for the first 10-15 miles as she ran horribly. I really wondered if I had done the wrong thing for my R*. Then, she settled down and ran the best she has all season.
