Myrtle Beach Question 4 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey guys, I've tried everything and I figured I would poll you guys next. In September I am taking my wife and daughter to Myrtle Beach. I'm going to be staying a week but theres a problem. I have no idea where to stay. I dont care what the cost is, but everything I look at gets bad reviews and horror stories. I just want a nice hotel with an oceanfront view. Somewhere right on the beach with a balcony maybe in the room overlooking the ocean. But I want it to be clean and enjoyable. Does anyone have local knowledge of Myrtle Beach and its hotels or condos? I would also prefer to be closer to the main area(around the location of the Pavilion). Someone please chime in as I am running out of time to book a week and I cant decide because of all the bad reviews. Thanks again, Nick

I always stay in North Myrtle beach in the Windyhill area it is the family oriented end of the beach IMO..The pavillion is what I call party town if you are looking at motels right there that could be the problem with the reviews...it has been 4 years since I was there we have been going to Florida for a change....happy hunting..Coug

Stay in North Myrtle or Cherry Grove. We Love it there. Next month we are going to Disney to see Mickey and the crew. I can't wait, I feel more excited than the kids. Any time away from work is an exciting time. Have fun where ever you stay, but you will not be disapointed in Cherry Grove.

I agree that n myrtle beach tends to be nicer. Our first visit there we stayed at The Palace? It looked great in the brochures but,.....I have never complained about a room before due to being unclean, but this place was a high rise dump.
My real preference is staying down in pawleys island or murrells inlet on the south side.
The best beach imho is the state park by pawleys island by the gardens.

Thanks guys. I have been leaning towards North Myrtle after talking to a few people. Cherry grove sounds like a nice place I'll have to look it up. Coug thanks for the link. I'll give it a whirl here in a minute. Just got back from a 150 mile ride Finally hit 105 on my bike today. Man that front tire feels light at that speed. LOL Almost scared myself and literally blew the chrome off my father in laws Softail lol. Stopped about a mile down the road and waited though. Have to be a courteous rider lol. Thanks for the input everybody. Now its just left to pin it down and make the reservations lol.

Well there is no pavilion anymore so it really makes myrtle alot nicer.

Stay at Sandy Beach Resort We had one of their 3 Br Condos for the week of july 4th. Awesome place, newly remodled, just had greand opening and the rates are good. The rooms are nice. Right on the beach, and there is a general stor right across the street, and 3 or 4 beach shops, ice cream shop, a couple of bar & grills. All within 100 yards walk. So you dont have to spend your money on gas getting around. Parking is across the street in a roughly 4 acre lot so there are no issues finding a spot.

Very nice place, and we'll be staying there the first week of sept if our vegas trip falls through.

N Myrtle is a great area. The true center of Myrtle Beach is mostly older, crowded. Cherry Grove is quiet, but quite far from most attractions. My suggestion would be to look for a condo rental and avoid the hotels. Another nice are is to the south at Surfside beach. Really depends on what you want from your trip, kids etc. I am heading there Sunday if I can check someplace out for you let me know!

All good advice, Nick. It depends on how close to "the action" you want to be. My family has moved on up to the lower NC beaches. We go down to MB once during the week.
