8700! Man at least you got to ride that far. My scoot has been sitting for the last year with 3500 miles on it. SVS, burnt rings, and mine is an 06 should I go on.

FWIW lemon's come in many shapes, styles and colors. Hoping you won't let this sour your attitude about the bike. I know it's easier said because I'm not in your positions. You have every right to feel pi$$ed about your bikes but if it were me I'd do what I can with what funding I have to try and fix the problems. Somethings are out of my financial reach but it still wouldn't be a cause for torching the bike (yet). Sorry you're having these problems. Hopefully the Clinic and some buddies can get you riding again soon.

I hate to sound ignorant, but what does that mean? What's sticky valves/dead charging system? Is this an occuring problem with the 05's?

Do a search for SVS (sticky valves).

I've heard adding an ounce or so of Sea Foam every other fill up will help that problem (the SVS problem)...

Sorry to hear about your problems.....electrical problems are the worst even on a motorcycle. Hopefully, the fix will be quick, easy and inexpensive.

Please let us know what was wrong with the electrical system so we can be on alert - thanks!

A friend of mine's VTX left him stranded with a dead battery once, so you are not alone. He put a kuryakyn voltage meter on his gas tank so he could monitor the charging system, but hasn't had a problem yet.

I hope your problem is something simple and you can get it running again. I would be soured if I were you also, so I hope you can get it back running. Don't know if you bought the extra warrantee, but if there is something wrong with the charging system, that should cover it.

I thank God that my bike hasn't given me any trouble, but I guess my daughter's Volvo is making up for it. I am going to have to put starter #2 into it tomorrow .... joy oh joy!

Ya know this bike kills me. I have done all the maintenance on everything I have ever owned. If somethings broken I fix it. Hell I put a 20hp Honda motor in my John Deere 318 mower. I could probably fix this bike but it's not my responsibility. Sure, Im paying for it but thats because if I told them to come get it, it would reflect on my outstanding credit. This is Yamaha's baby. I know every brand has it's lemon, but it's what the manufacture does for the customer who gets it that proves their worth. I don't want to get long winded but let me tell you why I don't drink pepsi anymore. Do you remember Pepsi points? You cut the points off the case and mail it in for junk. Well I sent in like 200 pepsi points for some T-shirts once. The shirts were something like 180 points. It was mailed back to me saying I inclosed too many points for the items I chose. I removed the extra points and sent it back. It was then returned to me saying the promotion was over! Will I turn one down if offered to me? No..but I don't buy Pepsi anymore. I drink Diet Coke now and have ever since. Thats just the kind of guy I am! If you screw me over once don't expect me to come around looking to give you a chance to do it again. If you make it right and are sorry I'll forgive and forget and everything will be right as rain. Yamaha has settled with others by giving them the bike and I have wanted to modify it since the day things went wrong. The only problem is if I did they would say the modifications are what caused the problem.(like they did to many others)I can't wait to ride, someday soon I hope. Lord it's been a year now, But I am not letting this go. I will have my day and I don't care how long it takes. If your bike operates the way you expected then this is not your fight and I'm truly happy that you did not have to experiance this headache. ride safe and I'll see you on the road someday. (I guess I did get long winded)

Law, I can appreciate your persistence. Not a lot of people have your JYD attitude. I hope you can get this cleared up to your satisfaction soon. Just hoping it don't sour your attitude about the Clinic and the R*. Good luck!
