I have only had the bike two weeks, so I don't know all of it's faults yet, but I am finding out. I work for Uncle Sam and had to take the Motorcycle Safety Course so I could ride on base. After about 5 hours of stopping, starting and sitting in 90+ degrees, I could start to smell raw gas and the carb flooded. Hard to get started again, but eventually would and was fine for awhile and then would do it all over again. I finally got through the test and after the bike cooled off everything was fine. No problem since. Has anyone had this problem or know what caused it? It happened again today after a 25 mile ride in from work in the heat. I had to get gas and there was a lot of pressure in the tank. If so, your rollover valve is plugged. You should removed it. Platinum Boarder Posts: 1788 Re:Strange Carb Thing 3 Years, 10 Months ago   There has been lots of talk about this, one quick and dirty fix is to shut your fuel petcock off each time you shut down, start the bike and open it again, its gas flooding through the carb your most likely smelling. I don't think there is a permanent fix to that. But turning off your petcock before shut down will solve that. I found it to be a pain though. In the good old gravity feed days the gas could continue to flow and fill your crankcase so shutting it off was a good thing. I do it now to prevent carb puking. It gets to be second nature almost, I still forget once in a while and generally not a problem unless it happens at a traffic light   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access.
