V&H Longshots debaffeled?...make me louder! 3 Weeks, 6 Days ago
Anybody on here run V&H longshots? Mine are ok but I find that a little louder volume is necessary. Can I debaffle them or what can be done with them? I love the sound of the pipes but extra volume helps with the caged ones. The more I drive the bike the more it becomes about me against them. I swear; they're after me!

Don't have V&H pipes but there's ways to de-tune your baffles. I equalized the length of my Shogun Classics the other day and took about 3" off the baffles so they'd fit the pipes. Definite sound difference. A bit more bark to 'em. There's numerous ways to make them suit your need and I'm sure many a member will offer some advice. M2CTS.

Take six inches off the baffles and see how you like them then.

tHE LONGSHOTS ARE EASY JUST TWO ALLEN HEAD SCREWS AT THE END OF EACH PIPE. THEY'RE ON THE BACKSIDE SO YOU MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE YOUR BAGS OFF. TAKE THOSE 2 LITTLE BOLTS OUT GRAB THE BAFFLES WITH SOME NEEDLE NOSE GIVE A LITTLE WIGGLE AND TOSS'EM IN TH TRASH!!!!

You've got to remove the heat-sheild first. Then you'll see the allen head screw. If you're looking at the pipes from the side of your bike, they're on the other side of the pipe itself.

I removed the baffles from my pipes (for a short while), and it is MUCH louder! But on decel it sounds like a semi-truck down-shifting from 10th gear down to 1st (horrible)! If there's a way to correct that, I'd leave them out. But until then, they're staying in.

I did the same, I took the baffles out and O man did it sound good at idle. I putted down the street, turned her reins loose and boy was she loud. until I let off the gas
I went back to the garage, didn't even wait for her to cool off, put the baffles right back. It sounded like a high pitched jake brake!

Scrubber, just wondering; have you removed the AIS? I was half-way thinking of removing mine to see if it would help the sound on decel with the baffles removed. But I'm sure someone here has tried that out already ...anyone????

anytime I hear someone start out the sentence with "I know a guy..." it scares me (JUST KIDDING!)...I'll give it a shot & see what happens.
