In my opinion Light bar real junk 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Ok I have had it and I am calling Yamaha to vent. I am sure it will do no good but it will make me feel better.
Last year coming back from my cross country trip the left side passing lamp and running light broke off at the welld, I had to find a guy to spot weld it. When I got home I bought a new one same type
This year coming back from Sturgis The entire light bar fell off broke at the center weld. Lucky I did not get killed it was just hanging on by the wires. Also glad it did not dent the fender.
I bungied it up and moved on down the rode.
I guess the bar welds cannot take high speeds day after day and road vibration as well.
However this is made for bikes and should not fall apart. I will never by a passing lamp bar again from Yamaha. I will try to find a welder rather then buy a new bar.
However does anyone know of a bar that will stand up to the riggers of the road, and one that will accept the passing lamps and running lights that I already have?
I would not buy yamaha passing lamps again they are true junk!! Again this is my opinion only.

I forgot to mention I lost a high way peg put my foot out and to my surprise it was gone. Stopped later in the day and looked at the threads in the long horn and they were gone. Now this might have been my fault for not using lock tight to hold bolt and to prevent corrosion but the threads in my opopinion should not of worn away from the elements.
I will get a new pair but this time lock tight it from the get go.

I've had my "cheap and dirty" passing lamps for a year and about 6000 miles. I run high speed, low speed and the crappy roads around Atlanta don't help. I inspect the blinker bar for signs or fatigue and cracks about once a week. So far, so good. Might not be the look your after, but I can't complain about it breaking...yet! (fingers crossed).

Good Luck with this. Seems the gremlins got it out for you on this.

Your certainly not the first ..... I have read a number of complaints regrading the welds breaking on the Yamaha light bars.

Supposedly they had fixed that issue a couple years ago and the new bars had better welds. Wonder if you got one of the old ones or if they didn't really fix it

When I mentioned to a friend of mine who is a service manager at one of the local bike shops, that I was thinking of getting a light bar he told me to steer clear of the yammy bars as he had done numerouse repairs to them....I would think they would have solved the problem by now....Coug

I have the Custom World Intl. w/ Smart Switch from Hellriser and although I went through about six bulbs in the first seven months, I've been lucky with them since.

Spoke to Yamaha
They blamed it on rough roads or low idle causing vibration. I told them that should not have any effect on the weld. No vehical runs a peak performance 100% of the time and that the welds should be able to handle any type of roads and besides I ride upstate were the roads are in good shape.
I told them that someone can be killed the lights are to heavy for the welds. I told them I have a crash bar and the welds are fine. They said I coould have a new bar but I have a new bar or I can have the original bar that came with the bike. I told them I will take a new passing lamp bar. I would really like to get a different par all together but don't have the money to spend at this time. I hope this bar will be better.

Re:Light bar real junk 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
It's a very common problem. Mine broke at the center weld too I was able to get Yamaha to replace it for me as a "good will gesture" I really like the look of the Yamaha bar and havn't found one that looked the same or I would switch too. I have over 8000 on my new bar and it's still working I check it regularly. I'm a welder and I was able to weld the bar on the inside and not damage the chrome too much and rode it like that until I got a new one. Then Yamaha asked for the old one back I also had the windshield mounts break on me at the top bolt

Ironically to the topic, I was just at my dealership yesterday, and there were 2 bikes in the shop area that had bungees on the light bars.
