They're supposed to grab little bits of metal that might be floating around in the oil.

Rotella T. 1 gal is about $10 at Wal-mart. Been used for years in HD's with no problems. My friends that are petroleum engineers also tell me that its a perfect choice. (according to him, everything else is marketing hype)

Are you using the new version of Rotella T?

They changed formulas the end of last year. The new formula has less zinc, better for converters but not for cam & lifters... on cars anyway.

Jeff

and you can bet the new formula has additives not wet clutch friendly... to compensate for the less zinc to meet API SL/SM standards..

The new triple protection formula that Rotella has is wet clutch compatiable.. I run rotella 15-40 dino in my mx bikes for years and there wet clutch.. There are thousands of threads on rotella on lots of different motorcycle forumns.. You would be suprised how many people run it.Its great oil.

I've run Rotella T in my bike and have yet to find any issues with it. I have ran Rotella in my diesels for years and I believe its as good as any oil on the market.
