Blown Fuse 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I went out this morning to ride to work like usual & absolutely lights didn't come on when I started my R*. It started fine & sounded normal. I am assuming the main lighting fuse is blown. This happened earlier this season. I changed the fuse only after inspecting the wiring, connections, etc. A guy at work said some bikes just have that problem. Has anyone else had a problem with this? It's a 2005 Silverado with the Yami light bar, and a lighted tach but no other electrical accessories.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
John

Mine did the same thing several times.... Blow the fuse... take the light out and check the wires. Put new fuse in and it might go a month or 100 yards. Carried to dealer for 3rd time. He said several bikes, both new and older had same problem. Wires in light bar vibrate and rub insulation off and short out. Seems like they may have it fixed now, he said they taped up all the wires. The wires get bad in the bar itself, not the headlight bucket.

Ain't that sumpin? Mine did the exact same thing just yesterday. I checked all easily accesible wires and connections, all look good. Changed fuse they worked . Rode to work no problems. Leaving work it worked . Got home , its gone again . Tore into the wiring a little deeper this time and found nothing unusual. I just came in to post this same topic but you beat me to the punch. Lets sit back and let the infinite wisdom on here guide us. Thanks and good luck

Had the same thing happen with my 2007 R* with only 2K miles on it. Final resolution by the dealer was to rewire the light bar and wrap in tape. It seems that it was chaffing. I now have 14K miles and no more problem.

I found the problem (I hope ). Found a bad connection in one of the passing lamps. The hot lead to the right one was grounding out. I replaced the connector & put shrink wrap over the new one. I didn't find any other "problems, so I think this solved it.....easy fix!!!
I did take it out for a ride around town (about half an hour or so) & the lights stayed on.
I hope yours is as simple, wilburn.

I found IT ! It was in my passing lamp too. It was a wire broken right outside of the bullet connector and it had burnt the bullet connector . At least I hope that was it . I guess I'll ride this weekend and find out.
