The sailing club is a 5 minute walk from my house; the yacht club is a 10 min ride.

I moved to the area 'cause I was going to by a sailboat but ended up buying a bike instead.

It's still not to late Doc, sailing is my first passion, you can pic up a used sailboat, the docking is the expensive part..but if you can trailer it you can save a bunch..

You see where mine is docked now there is not enough water in Lanier for me to feel comfortable running her or leaving her at the marina. It did cost me my garden this year but it saved me 3k .Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the 60 gallons of gas out before winter sets in ...Coug

60 gallons will move that roadie a long way Coug..looks like it's up high enough to siphon it out...

since the gas has gotten so expensive on the water, I've been getting some envious looks from the power boaters..

I always stored my boat full with Sta-bil in the gas. Fired up first time every spring, and that was a carbed engine.

Yep I do the same however the lake is 16 feet below full pool and I have not put it in since last year when I pulled it out in May .Too dangerous and I hate being the one that finds an unmarked tree or worse there are barns and other structures that are still there since they first flooded the land to make the lake in 1956.I have cranked her several times in the yard but even stabil lasts only a year so I guess like flash said I will have to syphon it off and refill....Coug

I have a 16 foot motorboat, a sailing dingy, a sunfish, a canoe, and a kayak. Yeah, I got the boating bug bad only wish I had that many motorcycles but I probably couldn't afford the insurance!!!

But seriously, I got the sailing dingy used for $900 fully rigged, and its small enough I can cart it around in the back of my truck. Check around and you may find a deal on a small sailboat.
