Since we have a single carb. it complicates this. I owned a 2000 Vstar 1100 and noticed that the rear carb was jetted differently than the front. After reading about the SVS problem it seems to me this occurs mostly on the rear cylinder. Reducing the over rich condition of the rear cylinder might make valve deposits less and lessen the chance of getting SVS. One down side I can think of is that if I cause more air to go through the rear cylinder this will lean the mixture and the rear will run even hotter than it does now. I may sometime in the near future try slightly porting the manifold at the rear and see what happens. Look at any plugs the back ones are almost always darker with fuel deposits. The fuel mixture according to the plugs needs to be leaner at the rear cylinder. If you run more air to the rear with the same jetting it should (I Think) be a leaner mixture. Running both cylinders with the proper air fuel mixture seems to me would be a better running bike. Kinda like syncronizing 2 carbs.
