I took the course 3 years ago and had 40 years riding experience at the time and still learned some new tricks for an old dawg. Congrats and ride safe.

I'm with the rest here, congratulations! You did well weed hopper! I know what you mean about the stoping line, I don't know where they get that from but they gave me some extra points for that one too!
Be good the fist 1000 miles, don't go thinking your all that. Speed Kills.

Re:my msf experience 3 Months ago
i was just thinking the same thing about for the next few miles or so,i plan on just trying to take it easy and hone up on my skills, as good as the course was,it was a perfect world,ie; no traffic,no dogs,no distractions, you know,i will be out in the real world now so i plan on being extra careful for the first while, then maybe, just maybe, i will be like you guys one day

Congrats on passing. You will remember stuff all the time as you continue riding. I still make myself look at the end of the curve instead of in front of the front wheel.

Congrats!!!

Be safe! Passing a closed course on a 250cc bike and riding on the road with a heavy cruiser are two different things. Take your time on the road, nothing to prove. Never exceed your comfort zone and watch out for cagers.. Assume no one sees you.

Re:my msf experience 3 Months ago
Congratulations!! And yeah, it's different on a 250cc versus a 1600cc cruiser, but if you can do it on a small bike, you can do it on a big one. Just take it easy, choose your roads and your times so that you have a minimum amount of traffic, and find some big empty parking lots to practice in.

Always look where you want to go. Head and eyes, at any speed, point the way. Keep your head and eyes up.

Master the slow stuff; the use of the friction zone and your rear brake. At slow speeds, do NOT use the front brake. You WILL dump the bike. (I found this out through personal experience!) Power to the rear wheel is what makes the bike want to stand up and gives it stability.

Head and eyes, friction zone, rear brake. Don't be afraid to lean your bike. Get used to it at slow speeds in a parking lot, so you are acquainted with how it sounds. Finding out how it sounds when you drag your floorboard at 55-60mph is a little disconcerting.

And yeah: Always assume that no one can see you.

When riding, I've taken to turning the driving lights on, and also keeping my lights on high beams. (loud pipes help, too!) Hee hee...

Congratulations and good luck!

P.S. One more thing: I highly, highly recommend the DVD, "Ride Like A Pro." It's expen$ive, but sooo worth it! It's like it picks up where your MSF course left off.

It\'s easy to tell who your real friends are: Lock your dog and your wife in the trunk for an hour. When you open it, notice which one is happy to see you.
