#110167 Midnight1700 (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 99 Not the usual jetting question 3 Months ago   I've been talking with our local expert on bike repairs and modifications. He's been in business for many years and is well known for his execellent work and attention to detail. I was in his shop the other day talking about re-jetting. He said, in his experience, he would rather shim up the stock jet than replace it with a jetting kit. He says the new jet kits containg jets made of stainless steel and over time will damage the emulsion tube in the carb because it's too hard. He's had to replace many carbs due to this issue. Admin Posts: 2423 Re:Not the usual jetting question 3 Months ago   Stock road star needle is aluminum, stock needle emulsion tube is stainless, most aftermarket jets, and the factory jets (all I have seen) are brass of one kind or another, most aftermarket needles are stainless. I am sure he is correct on the stuff he has done, but does not sound like it applies to Road Stars. I have personally rejetted north of a 100 bikes or so and it was never an issue. Gram What in gods name do you do that you have re-jetted north of 100 bikes?
