I don't feel up to riding but I put it back in and started it up. It sounds more like what I thought it should sound like. I'll know more once I get it out of the garage and ride it.

Took it for a short ride yesterday afternoon. Does sound better but not really any different at idle. Must just be the way it sounds because of the big empty can. As long as I know that's just the way it is I'll just tune it out.

I got extra air in the tires so the bike is sitting higher.

I've been reading your post's, I have the same situation. I went from cobra long shots, (no Baffles) to these 2" drag pipes I bought on ebay. Real loud, tin can noise at an idle like yours, but to be honest the bike doesn't have the balls it had before. I went to a bike shop in Maine this weekend, and talked to an old harley mechanic. He told me the more back pressure, the faster the bike. My friend has the same bike (04 Midnight Star) and he is running baffles in his cobra pipes. His bike is much quicker than mine. I thought about baffles, but the mechanic mentioned these restrictors that go between the exhaust flange and the head. Like a big washer. Have you heard of these. I might go to the hardware store and see if they have something that will fit and see what happiens.

Big Tim

The basic rule of thumb is a 2 into 1 pipe will give you more torque and a 2 into 2 will give you more top end. So if you want 2 into 2 pipes you should be ready to lose some low end grunt. Especially if you are running little or no baffle. Back pressure is a factor. Are you talking about torque cones?
