Floorboard Bolts STUCK! 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I got a set of BillJr's 3" floorboard extenders, (btw, look AWESOME!) and went to install them yesterday.
I have a '02 and the allen head bolts holding on the floorboards are STUCK, won't move, jammed, and whatever other way you can put it.
It looks as if (out of the 4 total bolts) one allen head has already been rounded off by some previous owner...before I do the same, does anyone have any suggestions....
I've tried a penetrating oil (there's really no where to apply, but I tried).
I'm thinking about J-B weilding a allen wrench to the bolt, letting it set up, and then trying again. I DO NOT want to round off the heads. I have NEVER had success with an "e-z out."

I believe someone once suggested heating the bolts to melt the loctite, but I could be wrong. I screwed one of mine up when I tried to take the out to put an engine guard on. Put a big torque bit in that one to get it out. Bought some of of those cup-shaped extractors but ended up being able to get the bolts out without them.

Replaced them all with 10mm hex-head bolts from Home Depot. Piece of cake to get them out now.

Good luck!

lets describe it as the loctite from hell

you need to get a hold of a pencil torch and heat the bolts and with a good socket allen bit and ratchet wrench apply torque..

the rounded out one... notch the edge of the head with a gremil tool
at an appropriate spot and with a hammer and chisel give the head a good blow...after heating

That's what worked for me. I used a torch to heat them for 30 seconds or more and they came right out. I like Soba's suggestion to use hex-head bolts. Should've done that before I put the boards back on. Doh!

Heat and torque busting vibration will work wonders. If you have a rivet gun and a head that will fit, pounding on the bolt for a bit will loosen it up if you can turn it while pounding on it. I have a tool that fits in a rivet gun that has a handle on it so you can pound and turn while pushing down with pressure.
That puppy will take anything off...

If anyone knows what size the allen head is (Xmm) , I'll pick up the socket for the hammer-drill on the way home!
