Good luck. I have been through this twice once with small engine guards, and again when I put the Lindby bar on. I had no luck with impact, heat or anything else. I wound up drilling the head off. If you take a drill the same size as the opening, nominal 8mm, drill into the opening, use plenty of oil as you go, in a short time you will be able to pop the head off with a chisel, and to my amazement and yours the bolt shaft will turn out with fingers!!! The button head seems to create a great deal of friction that is difficult to over come. I replaced the standard M10 Button head bolts with M10 Allen head bolts in a 10mm key. I have not had any issues with them since. I use Blue Loctite to secure them.

and the drilling heats up the bolt too and if yer able get yer hands on a left hand drill bit...sometimes the drilling alone with the heat created... the bolt comes right out with the drill...

I just went through this over the weekend, tried heat, impact, everything you can think of. Mine was also stripped. Finally got to the point that an easy out was the only option, but I have also had little luck in the past with an easy out. I started by taking a very small drill bit and drilling into the center of the hex recess. When I got the hole drilled, I tried again with the allen wrench and, despite the fact that the bolt was almost completely round, it came out easily. I think the heat from the drill bit was all it took. Replaced it with bolt and all is well again.

It's awesome to find a place where others have the same issues as yourself (and others can speak from experience)!!!!!!

I ended up drilling and using easy out to remove the bolts on the right side. Left side came out no problem. Replaced with bolts. Real pain in the a**.

had the same problem w/ my yamee lower engine guards.Stripped the allen head with hardly and tension(junk) Drilled 3/4 the way thru the allen head and suddenly the friggin bolt backs out w/ your fingers. Replaced the allens w/ some hex head bolts and blue locktite. Almost every stock bolt that comes off I replace and never use again.
Installing pipes, Bill's floor board extenders and Genos lowers this weekend....good thing the local tru-value is 2 mi away.

Yes, a little heat is the way to go. When I installed my Fatty Bars I had real trouble getting the floorboard bolts out, until I heated them. As mentioned, about 30 seconds right on the bolt head. Then they just slipped out with no trouble at all. The boys on the Clinic gave me this advice - that's one of the reasons I love this web site so much. Saved me a few rounded out allen bolts. Thanks
