Hey Earl how about a write up for a Tech Article on your change. Did you have to change belts etc maybe some picture. I looked through the tech articles and this appears not to have been covered before, maybe you documented it in an earlier post. Sure would be helpful to know of the do's and don'ts from first hand experience.
Thanks
Chris

It's really not a deal worth a write-up, in my mind. I just changed the pulley out. The belt and everything else stayed the same. Although, I did yank the belt rollers out next to the pulley because the belt touched them a lot more, and I couldn't stand the roller racket.

OK,
Here's an update for all those who asked about me putting a 33-tooth pulley on my '05 Silverado.
Pre-33-tooth pulley, I could expect about 41.8 MPG with day-to-day riding, speeds under 75 mph and usually under 65. On my long hauls to GA at intestate speeds 72-82 mph, I got around 34 mpg.
Figured out what I got on my 2,000-mile trip through New England with the 33-tooth pulley, using 12 fill ups for the calculation:
Overall average was 43.248 mpg or almost 1-1/2 mpg higher than my everyday average, but that included a few hundred interstate miles doing 70-82 mph. My low was 39.135 mpg on my last fill up (almost all interstate), which is roughly 5 mpg higher than the 32-tooth days...and my best was 45.261 mpg on a mostly two-lane day (35 to 60 mph), or about 3.5 mpg better than the previous average.
Thanks, Derek, for the pulley.
Conclusion, the 33-tooth did improve my gas mileage with virtually no loss to performance for my tame riding style. In fact, I like the way it feels a lot more. 50-60 mph in 4th gear is just cruising now, and I don't really need 5th gear until I hit about 75 on accel.Did you figure the MPG corrected for the 3% error that the different pulley causes? Changing the pulley changes the odometer roughly 3% per tooth (1/33=.03030). Something to think about.

 onefastbob...
Soba,
Glad you like the 33t change.I for one LOVE my 31t but, I love to get from one stop sign to the next as fast as possible Really for me I like the fact I don't have to shift as much in the canyons where I enjoy riding. It sounds like you enjoy the wide open road so the 33t works for you
Thanks for the update!

You are correct; however, with the 33 he'll actually be getting more accurate mileage figures than before.

I'm one of those who takes the side roads and off-freeway highways as often as I can, so the 32-tooth, to me, is the best of both worlds. Otherwise I'd be looking for a 33 as well. This is great stuff.

Hey Soba did you have to remove the rollers?? Put out a post on the * project and got several said they had to remove the roller due to contact and an annoying noise it made.

Yes, I did. This is from an earlier post in reply to a question by 2Sheds
