Normally the spoke rims require tubes and the non-spoke rims are tubeless. Thats as a rule.

I'm going to suggest the Avon Venoms to you. I hear more positive comments on them than any other tire on any forum. I picked them because of their higher weight rating.
I have not heard anything negative on the Metzler ME880's on this forum but I also have a Yamaha Venture and on one of their forums I hear about many of them delaminating and even loosing chunks of tread.
Just check around and good luck!

Front tire must be balanced.

Rear tire ... your choice. I usually run them without balancing.

I'm too lazy ... I put the weights inside the rim so it's too much work for the back for the little benefit it gives.

Riding my bike, I'd doubt that you'd know that my back tire is not balanced ... not that I'd let you ride my bike.

... but I know when the back tire is low on air.

I have Metzler 880s wide white walls. Usually a set runs me about $350 OTD, installed. My dealer only charges $25 per tire for installation if I buy the tire from them. They screwed up the last time and quoted me wrong to my benefit. Got the rear OTD installed for $155. $600 for a set is way too much.

That's got to be a pia. I guess you have to break down the tire 2 or 3 times to get it right.. I wouldn't call that lazy, I'd call it anal...

... but why put custom rims on the bike and then stick ugly weights on them.

I thought if you lined up the dot on the side wall with the valve stem it was close to being ballanced. The dot is the litest part of the tyre.
