Tom you got yours at about the same mileage as me but I got it again at 16000. The way I licked it was I sprayed the carb and killed the motor then I pulled the pipes squirted seafoam in the exhaust ports and stuffed a rag in them. Let it sit for 24 hours and then put 4 oz of seafoam in the full tank of gas ran the poop out of it for that tank and the re-jetted now that is was all cleaned out. I may have gone a little lean but just before the last SVS set in I had a dyno run and it was good and that was two days before it screwed up. No I can run my finger in in my pipes and I get NO Soot. It runs great.
Awww your just trying to make me feel good aren't ya Curt
Since then I've added the Mr. C. air filter and rejetted the carb.
I just got the Barons PM Thumbscrew so I can dial in the primary.
I was thinking of having it dyno'ed and adjusting from there, but I want to see how I do setting the
PMS and then checking the needle setting.
I'm using the Baron's needle and it's on the 4th slot from the top, stock washer set up now.
Did the
WOT and the 170
main seems right.
Doing a trip to Fl. in August which is when I should hit 16,000, I'm at 13,000 now.
For myself I blame the SVS as much on how I was warming the bike up and lugging it as much as anything else. Now I do a shorter warm up and keep the
RPM's higher and that seems to be working.
