Doc/Musky, Here is the hose that I 'z-kinked' I think it is correct...I also ensured that headers, mufflers were free from leaks...TO THE TANK AND BEYOND...

Tank is off, Now I am lost again...Is there a place I can go to pick up from tank removed to remove carborator? I am an electrician, so I think if I have to remove all hoses etc, I will probably end up labeling them all with a diagram... You guys are awsome...

update: I have the PMS at 3.5 from full in and it is backfiring now from high idle...when I pull in the clutch to shift and pretty much any time I put the throttle back to idle... I tried setting the PMS screw back to full in, but no luck it is still acting up... question is will it backfire or pop if the engine is tooo lean? or am I sorely mistaken....Please help.

OK ... where are you now???

If you get popping on decel at lower revs it usually fixed by turn the PMS out a bit but at 3.5 out you don't have much room left.

However, you need to make sure that you have no exhaust leak (usually backfirng rather than popping) and more importantly if you have popping to disable the AIS.

The hose from the top of the carb is the vacuum line for the AIS ... block that off.

OK....I got so frustrated, I took the clamp off the AIS and put the PMS at 3. Sounds alot like it did before I started.
  • I think I am going to start from there on the PMS adjustment procedure in the Tech articles. I am also going to see if the local speed shop has the ais removal kit (doubtful but worth a try)for the 06 and up it requires the blank flanges, correct? I just don't think that clamping the AIS did enough, I verified the correct hose was clamped, but I think that the vacuum hose was leaking at the carb.
