Gottit - I'll start saving for this air ride thing... I think it's the way to go. Probably be a number of months before I can swing $900 for this, but I think it's worth it.

I carry that block of wood with me wherever I ride - just so I can stand the bike up straighter when I park it.

Drumdon,

I am 6' 3" about 270, I lowered mine with loony's progressive spring and 1 1/2" dog bones. I ride two up alot with my wife and we don't have near the problems bottoming out we used too, at stock height and spring rate. It is a comfortable ride, it took about 45 minutes to do.( I need to update my sig pic)

I am very pleased. The only difficulty is replacing the spring. I just ran the assembly over to a mechanics shop and used a strut compression tool. It took about 15 minutes and $20.00 and it was good to go.

All together about $160 and an hours time, It works well.

Definitely the air ride is the way to go, but financially, this works pretty well and gives a better look and ride while you are saving your pennies for the air.

Now we're talkin! That's more like the price I'm looking for. I do like the idea of being able to adjust at-will, but price is something that has more of an effect on my decision. I'll look into the Looney setup... is it similar to the PCS setup?

bmatpt,

so i have thought about lowering my r* and do alot of riding 2 up with my wife. when you installed the lowering kit you didn't notice a change for the worse in the ride? also i've been told that i would scrape the ground with the sub frame more and scrape the floorboards more? you're opinion on this? just like to hear it from someone that has it. oh and for the record i'm 6'3" and weigh about 200 and to keeep my wife from killing me i won't say her weight but the two of us will still weigh less then 330.... ha.. hope she doesn't read this i think i just gave her away.

I did the 1 1/2" lower with the progressive and love it. I did 1200 miles in 5 days, 2 up with a full T-bag and full saddle bags. It would bump on pretty good bumps, but still not near as bad as before with standard height and stock spring turned up.

I like the feel and love the look. I am about 6'3" 270# and lets just say we go over 400# easily with my 6' wife on board. Add on some luggage and we have hit the road many times over 500#, no regrets.

I do drag floor boards a little more, but not bad, I have them moved 3" forward and tilted.

i want to move the floorboards forward but i have engine bars and i'm not sure they will allow. i think i'm going to try though talked with bill jr about it on here think the bars i have are yami big bars and he said it would work with them. also what handlebars are you running i want to get taller bars and since we must be about the same height what are you running and how do you like them? also how much trouble to put on were they? did you have to extend all cables and electricals?

TampaSVT...thanks for info on the kit. I'll have to weight my options up but this is a good one as you can adjust the ride to suit conditions / load, etc.

If your thinking of going air ride you should look at this http://www.streetboutiquecustoms.com these make sense you still retain the shock for damping, the air cyclinder style will give you a slight "pogo" effect or go PCS links for the rear and progresive for the front not alot of money
