Ghost Brackets vs. Easy Brackets 2 Months ago
Anyone have anything great or terrible to say about either of these products? I've read about every comparison article I can find...10 gauge steel vs. 12 gauge, slots vs. keyholes, 5 degree offset vs. 8 degree...

I want some of you with experience with the products to tell me what you love or hate about them. I just can't stand those OEM black tubing network brackets from Yami anymore--makes it a pain to take off to work on the back of the bike, and I like the idea of being able to take the hard bags on & off quickly.

TIA,

RK

I had EasyBrackets on my '02 V-Star I used to own, and LOVED them. No mounting or usage problems whatsoever. If I had to think up something I'd change on them, I'd say that they seem to make the saddlebags stick out from the bike a little too far in my opinion... but that's just aesthetics.

I've seen GhostBrackets, and they look pretty much the same (a little shorter back plate I think). I don't know much about them.

Actually , Ghostbrackets have a Longer backing plate. I have Ghostbrackets , my wife has EasyBrackets , if you want to run bigger bags , you will get more support from GhostBrackets. BB

Never had GhostBrackets but do have EasyBrackets.

Just like the name says they are easy on/off.

They do occasionally rattle on large bumps but I've heard of guys here using the fuzzy part of velcro and a little peg mount tuning to tame that down.

Do the Ghost Brackets or Easy Brackets work on the OEM R* Hard Bags or do you have to do some sort of MOD?

I imagine it would take some imagination to use EZ Brackets with the Star hardbags. The EZ bracket backing plate is totally flat and I'd bet the mounting holes would not line up between the two.

Thanks, everyone...and BB, the bigger the bags the better, so Ghosts may be the way to go. Could be a moot point with the Star hard bags, though...I've taken those things of a hundred times (hence this thread ), but I really never paid attention as to how "unflat" the backsides of the Yami hard bags are. They may not work with either...may have to get ubercreative... I'll let you know, Huskerroy.

I have the Ghost Brackets on my bike and love em, they are one of the best systems I have seen for getting the bags on and off. they are key lock on so its easy to get em off and clean the bike.
I don't know much about easy brackets, however I would recommend the Ghost brackets.

Thanks RK! Hopefully you'll find a way to use the Hard bags with the brackets. If they someone ever made them, I know I would buy them!

I used ez brackets to mount venture star bags on my R*. I had to do a pair of custom brackets to put between the ez brackets and the bags though.
