Analyze This! 2 Months ago
Please view my 33 second video and tell me what you think. This is video evidence concerning the issues I have posted in Engine Chatter/ Vibration thread. I am replacing the manifold with the Nemesis.

After discovering a post about SVS, I kept reading and think that this is my problem.

Listen closely and hear the louder irregular boom of the REAR exhaust. The bike is relatively cold and has not been ridden. Just warmed it up enough to take this video.

Thanks & turn up the volume!
Rayjay

PS Am I supposed to upgrade to high compression pistons and better valve springs when I take off heads?

When I pull the rear head off I want to ream the carbon out from the valve guides on the exhaust side. What diameter ream should be used and can I get it a NAPA or some other auto store?

Also, what should I use to clean off the carbon from the head itself? I could use a scraper or a wire wheel on the bench grinder.

Reamer - 6 mm

Carb cleaner and a scotchbrite pad to get the carbon off.

Do you really want to jurk the heads? There is a way to clear up SVS without doing that. Just ask blackrodie he just finished with my method and it does work. SVS in my opinion is the result of bad jetting for the set up you have. Once you get it cleaned up and get your jetting correct you shouldn't have any more problems.

Thanks, Doc.
If I can't get this ironed out using Curt's fix (hope he's sending it to me) , I'll go that route.

Better (stronger) valve springs will probably help delay it returning, but without the proper jetting you will fight again. These things tend to jetted too rich from Yami and with the aftermarket jet kits. JMO

Re:Analyze This! 2 Months ago
I've had this problem from when I got the bike. The pipes were full of soot and I thought that was normal for this bike. It quickly became apparent that something was wrong. When I drove, the vibrations made my head shake. When I hit 65 in 5th the vibrations were so bad that I was in sensory overload and almost lost it!
I found Curt's Cure in another thread and will try that.
The way I licked it was I sprayed the carb and killed the motor then I pulled the pipes squirted seafoam in the exhaust ports and stuffed a rag in them. Let it sit for 24 hours and then put 4 oz of seafoam in the full tank of gas ran the poop out of it for that tank and the re-jetted now that is was all cleaned out.

I was ready to pull the heads and scrape, scrape. I may replace the springs in the future and maybe add high comp pistons with a high velocity porting job. I will write moto tune and ask him if it can/should be done to an R* http://www.mototuneusa.com/

I'm waiting for a new Nemesis manifold. In the meantime I will do Curt's Cure. When I get the Nemesis I'll go for a hard run to clean things out.
I've spent hours on this site and working on my * -- it seems like 80 - 100 hours total (1/2 on each) and now just finding the solution.
