BB, that's the exact trek I took today, but in reverse. Started in Gainsville and omitted the Helen part, but Wolf Pen Gap, 129, 60, Vogel State Park area, I hit 'em all. I'll get the Helen part in 2 weeks when I go up for a few days.

Have fun.

Thanks.......good roads, huh? Might not be your cup 'o tea , but ditch the boards , get some forwards , and you gain a Bunch of lean angle on the Roadies. Downside.....I drug my R/H 2/1 after that change. That's why I removed it and installed a V&H 2/1. But I think (read: Know) I'm a little heavier than you , so that might not be as big an issue for you. BB

I'm actually running up that way this Sunday morning. 60 to 180 (Wolf pen gap) , left on 129 for a couple miles , hanging the right back to 180 then the right to Richard Russell scenic Hwy , left on 75 and into Helen for grub. Love that section of Ga. best kept secret around.......thanks in large part to Deals gap. BB

I hope you plan on leaving early as the leaves are almost at their peak so evey leaf looker in atlanta will be up there too . I eat at the place by the river there in Helen when I am there.Any place else there that you tend to favor???....enjoy your ride ...you may pass me up there as I am probably headed to my cousins saturday if I go, i'll be going back down sunday.I have ridden up there hundreds of time and have been on 60 and 11 but never went on 180 back to 60.Ill run that leg either Sunday morning going home or next week running the path you are taking only in reverse .Have a safe trip...Coug

Before this falls off the page I would like to say that I got to ride with Mark7 up into the mountains of North Georgia. It was nice to finally meet one of the members from the Clinic and Mark is about as I expected he is as laid back as I am.It was a great day for riding temps were good and the leaves are about to peak.I did manage to grind some metal off my floor boards but again that is part of the fun as long as they dont stick...Coug

Re:GA's Dragon yesterday / Question re: Ultimate seat 4 Years, 7 Months ago
Getting rid of the floorboards and adding forwards would solve the problem of that part dragging, but then there's another problem: The duals.

Once the boards hit not long after I feel them start to fold up I feel the chrome guards on the duals hit the pavement. I love my dual pipes so I'm not gonna get rid of those. I'll just have to be content with my less than acute lean angles and be mindful as I ride. Maybe I can get all my kneedragging in when I ride the Honda Aero that the wife owns. No boards to worry about and a good deal more lean before anything kisses asphalt.

Which reminds me to jump off of here, hook up the trailer and go get her bike back from the dealer. $200 to replace a pet-cock that failed and another $200 to completely clean the gunk out of the fuel system from where the previous owner let the bike sit without fuel conditioner. (Note to self: Take Vaseline when I go pick it up)

Word to the wise folks. If you aren't going to empty and fill the tank fairly frequently add some Sta-bil or similar to keep the crud (and rust with Ethanol added fuel) from forming. Penny of Prevention and all....

Lastly, it was good to put a face with the winking cat profile on here. Like I wrote to Flashback in a note "Had a great time and the leaves are really starting to turn. He is as good a fellow as you'd ever want to meet." Motorcycle folks really ARE some of the best people you ever want to meet.

yea, I've heard of it, but never been there..I'm on watts bar lake, bout half way between Chatt and Knox. I think copper hill is west of me, toward middle TN. The TVA is lowering the lake as we speak. they drop it 5 ft every winter..BTW, how's Lanier looking these days, hope it has improved some..
