 My first was a Briggs & Stratton minibike at age 7 ... only because I wouldn't come back with my 10 yr old brothers! Stopped when my kid brother lost his license for no insurance on his moped at age 16. Besides, I went into the Navy, too. In 1990, picked up my XS850 Special (an 1100 minus one cylinder) and racked up 52k miles w/o any problems which sold me on the Yamaha product. Picked up Black Betty 3 years ago on e-bay and will never be without one again. BTW, I'm 53 and only as old as the women I feel ... so I'm really only 45!

If I was a mathmatician I might be able to figure out why this seems off, but I'm thinking that maybe you have to take the 49 and multiply it by .885 or something close to that. I just don't see how adding 8 almost 9 months to each of our lives brings the average up by 8 years. Seems like it should only knock it up by a half year or so or am I way off base and not reading this right?
Either way I feel I'm in great company even with the younglings.

I'm 48. Started riding mini bikes, and dirt bikes at 10. My mom said NO to street bikes, so I had to wait until my 18th birthday to buy my first street bike. On my 18th birthday I went over to my uncles house and bought his BSA 650 twin that I had been drooling over for 2+ years. Been riding street bikes ever since. I'll do the math for those challenged. 30.5 years riding street bikes, 38+ years of total riding.
