When I blip the throttle the bike hesitates OR backfires no matter where I set the accelerator pump. Should there be some hesitation? My 04 had hesitation and "cough" off the showroom floor. I was able to tweak the PMS and accelerator pump to eliminate it. I've since jetted, etc but the original tweak on the pump holds true. Some folks have said that the '04 doesn't need rejetting. If so just don't blip I know it hard not to. I even do it some times. Yup,I broke it trying to elimate that annoying carb cough on blip. I dug around in my bag and found an extra turn signal lens screw. Tried it and it worked. Still in there. So take one of the lens screws out and take it to the hardware and match the thread up.
