How To Adjust the Accelerator Pump 7 Years, 4 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: How To Adjust the Accelerator Pump

I've tried to adjust my accelerator pump with no luck. When I blip the throttle the bike hesitates OR backfires no matter where I set the accelerator pump. Should there be some hesitation? Should I rejet? 2004 with stock carb/exhaust(drilled stage 2)/breather.

Zo, have you tweaked the PMS at all. My 04 had hesitation and "cough" off the showroom floor. I was able to tweak the PMS and accelerator pump to eliminate it. I've since jetted, etc but the original tweak on the pump holds true.

I'll try the PMS. Some folks have said that the '04 doesn't need rejetting. I think mine does.

Good morning!!
Quick question regarding the accelerator pump. I've read the tech tip regarding how to adjust it and I'm assuming you do this on a warmed up motor with the choke/enrichener off. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance!!

Zo these engines don't like to be blipped does it cough when you accelerate slowly from a stop? If so just don't blip I know it hard not to. I even do it some times. You will notice your gas milage goes up if you don't blip too.

Anyone know where I can order a new accelerator pump duration adjustment screw? Yup,I broke it trying to elimate that annoying carb cough on blip. I can't seem to locate a replacement from schematics on various Mikuni parts websites. 2007 Midnight Star.

I lost mine. I dug around in my bag and found an extra turn signal lens screw. Tried it and it worked. Still in there. So take one of the lens screws out and take it to the hardware and match the thread up. Just get a shorter one.
