Is there a difference? If so what ?

Here is the deal, I'm getting some overtime and have a fund building (Mad Money) and would like to get some stuff. Freedom duels and one of the above mentioned items. Which is best for performance or MPG's? and doesn't rain mess with them being open like that?

I've had both started with the hypercharger dealer installed. The never could get it right or me for that matter. I finally got the BAK and dialed it in myself. The HC looks cool but got to thinking about it and an air cleaner doesn't need moving parts to do it's job just something else to go wrong so I changed. The BAK has a rain coat.BTW the BAK is easy to jet for the HC not so easy.

Thanks Curt that helped alot . I've learned from the clinic to respect your word on carbs and such. The BAK from nopork comes with the jet kit is that all I would need?

Well Thanks! That's very flattering. Yes it comes with the needle, spare washers and several jets as well as new allen screws for the float bowl. Just follow the instruction sheet and it should be easy. I didn't put the line on that goes to the back of the backing plate and you might want to do the same. Are you planning on taking your AIS off?

I have the hypercharger. Lots of custom options to change up the look . I didn't put the hypercharger on my bike, but I know the tech had one heluva time putting it on. I never took my bike there because well to me they didn't seem professional and was over on their estimate . Surprise, surprise. They've since gone out of business. They jetted it too rich, way too rich.

Everyone has the BAK. I don't like to be like everyone else. The guys I ride with say the BAK leaks oil, but IMHO, they over oiled their filter and that's why the oil leaks on to their pants and bike. Hyperchargers rock, though I do think you'll have an easier time installing the BAK. If you get the hypercharger don't worry about rain, that cover and the butterflies do a job of keeping it dry. I've gotten stuck in some monsoons riding my bike. Never had a carb problem because of rain.

The other comment I've seen here and heard directly from some riders is that the hypercharger sticks out something like 3" from the bike, so if you have shorter legs or just don't want to ride bowlegged to get around it, you might consider something else.

This is true it does stick out. You get used to it though.

I agree with what Curt is telling you. I had an HC on my 1100. The jetting there was fickle until I yanked the airbox out and installed K&N's directly to the carbs. It ended up being just for looks in the end.

My brother tried to put one on his roadstar with the aid of me and a factor service guy that really knew his stuff. It took a bit of fussing but we got it running OK but it didn't seem to perform as well as mine does with the speedstar BAK. Some of the dyno tests that I have seen posted seem to indicate that the HC does not perform as well as do the BAK's.

The oil seepage issue can be remidied by relocating the crank vent line. I never had a problem with mine running into the BAK until recently. I am relocating the line now.

As far as rain goes as long as you maintain the K&N by keeping it clean and oiled I have never had any issues with rain and I have been in some pretty heavy downpours.

The HC does stick way out and interferes with your right leg. The Barron's BAK sits inboard quite a bit. I used the Speed Star aluminum backing plate when I did mine and it brought the cleaner cover inboard another inch or so. I couldn't hit it with my leg if I tried.
