I've done a Saddlesore 1000 (officially once, unofficially two additional times).

I was considering doing the B2B (Border to Border in 36 hours) or the 50CC (coast to coast in 50 hours). Anyone do these on a R*?

Anyone interested in doing it in the Spring (preferably staring from Arizona or California)?

A wise man once said: "A man has gotta know his limitations". I'm old enough to know mine.

If I had to do this, I have no doubt I could. However I have other responsibilities in my life that require my attention and an being absent for the time necessary to do a border to border trip would put a hardship on others.

Through a group I ride with I was offered a "4 corners" run. Atlanta, Maine, Washington ST., So. California and back home to Atlanta. The combination of the scenery, the folks along the trip would keep me out of trouble and the sheer knowledge that I did it all appealed to me. Again my presence here at home would have to have been compromised so I bowed out.

Slyguy, if you do it, I know we'd all appreciate a travelogue of the adventure complete with all the photos. Maybe the mods. here would even give you your own space so we can all ride along in spirit.

Have fun!

Sounds like fun to me!

I live near Malibu in California so it would be a good place to start for the 50cc.

Do you have a planed route yet?

I drove from Malibu to Atlanta in 36 hours in January and back in 38 hours in June all this year and would love to do it on my R*

canyonCruiser, cool! Doing this in a car is nothing. I used to ride from Baltimore to El Paso once in a while. We did it in 34 hours once, but that was a car. A 1,000 miles on a motorcycle will kick your butt and trying to do it two days in a row...

San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, FL @ 2350 miles. I-8 to I-10, pretty much the whole way. Got 50 hours to make it.

Day 1:
San Diego, CA to San Antonio, TX... 1275 miles, est road time 17.9 hours. Leave around 2AM PT, arrive @11PM PT (1AM CT)

Day 2:
San Antonio, TX to Jacksonville, FL... 1075 miles, est road time 16.4 hours. Leave around 7AM (9AM CT), arrive @ 2AM PT (5AM ET, leaves 2 hours to spare)

Recommend starting this ride on a Friday or Saturday morning.

Note, all times based on the same time zone. PT=Pacific Time, CT=Central Time, ET=Eastern Time

After this ride, I will probably visit my sister in Atlanta for a few days, ride the dragon's tail and the entire blue ridge parkway and visit my other sister in Baltimore before heading back home. Total mileage: @ 6200

Man that sounds like fun.

Reading this makes me feel like a kid again.

Can't go play because I've got chores.

well Ole, finish your chores and ask your mom!

I got my R* to ride. A lot of the people I know have had their bikes for 3-5 years and have under 10,000 miles on the bike. How sad.
