That trailer is very similar to mine & CoachDan's. One other word of advise if you start pulling a trailer. Make sure you balance your load properly. Your better off making the backend slightly heavier then putting to much weight on the tongue. To much tongue weight will make the bike dip up and down when you hit bumps and feel funky. If you get to much weight in back of the axle you will experiance a sway that can make you want to wet your pants if you know what I mean? Try and do your best to get your stuff packed as evenly as possible. I carry a generator on the tongue and then put my ice chest inside at the very back, to off set the weight of the generator.

Hey there Emu: I was over in your country 14 yrs. ago and loved it. I would go back in a heart beat. The people were very friendly and the country I saw was beautiful. And I still play songs from Lazy Harry. He's a hoot. My wife and I visited Melbourne,Sydney, and Cairns. We went in the middle of Sept. It always amuses me that at Christmas time for you guy's, it's time for surf boards and snorkels!

A warm gidday to Capt. Kirk...I'm glad that you and your good wife enjoyed your time in Oz. Yes it's starting to warm up here now and we'll all be hitting the beaches and waterholes to cool off.

Did you go inland or north from Cairns mate? Over the range and a little further north of Cairns there's some world heritage rain forest, beautiful riding with plenty of unique spots to stop and cool off.

If ever you get the opportunity to come back over mate, look us up we'll look after you.

Regards
Emu

Hey Emu
Sorry to get in here so late, but the forum list to the left seems to move a lot faster these days, and must have missed it.
It's no problem at all pulling a camper with the Road*, but you have to make an appointment to stop. As Hardone2get said, weight distribution is very important when pulling a camper. The ones like ours weigh about 350 lbs empty, and then what ever else you load. Usually around 450-500 lbs loaded.

I have the MCEnterprises hitch for the Road*, which bolts onto the eyebrow bolt holes, and hangs down from there. It's great for smaller cargo trailers, but not enough stability for the heavier camper. What Hardone2get said about wetting your pants, and then some. It's called tail wagging the dog. Not fun!!!
You need a hitch that will also bolt onto foot peg area, or modify one like hardonet2get, or Arron did. Main thing, hitch needs to be more stable for camper.
I'm installing RSV saddlebag brackets, so I can use the RSV hitch from MCEnterprises. It's a lot more stable than the one for the Road*

hardone2get is righton about the clutch.
I have the 32 tooth pulley that came stock on my 06, and am dropping down to the 31 tooth.
If I'm not pulling it behind my bike, I'm pulling it behind my wifes little 1800cc Pontiac Vibe getting 35-37 mpg. MPG on bike pulling camper is same as bike loaded down with camping gear.
You can click on my website below and see camper.

Coachdan...mate, thanks for chiming in and sharing your experiences. From the sounds of it I'll have to take it easy for a while. The elite trailer that I'm looking at has disc brakes but I'd been wondering about cornering characteristics etc. What you say makes good sense.

BTW...I enjoyed visiting your website...you've done a good job on this and on your ride and rig.
