has anyone looked into the hid conversion for the headlight? i saw it on the kurykan website. $400+ is pretty steep. i have been using the silverstar and wondered if there was much of a difference.

I haven't looked into it because I'm pretty happy with the Silverstar. But I think when they start making the new Silverstar Ultra in H4 I will give them a try.

I know I'm digging up an old thread here but,
has anyone given this a try on their Roadie?
I've done it on my sportbikes but there is ia ton of room to hide the ballasts, in the body work.
It's not so much about seeing but, more about being seen.
The kits are all over E-Bay for about $100.00
Thats where I've purchased them before, with success.
Just wondering!

a buddy has the HID kury light on his R*. He says it makes a big difference. Money doesn't mean much to him, he's got plenty of it though and doesn't give these things a second thought.

my brother bought a kit off e bay and installed it on a Shadow 750. He said my Star would be easy. So there ya have it. He hid the ballast in a leather pouch on the front but said a Roadstar has plenty of room otherwise. I've thought about it just for the sake that it is so much easier on the battery and the Alternator. But what is on there is plenty bright for me........ And I do about 40% night riding. Who knows what time I get off work! MC

Yes it's been done.
About 6 years ago, there was a guy selling units from the BMW that he had modified for the R* ... he starved to death.

Cool;
JusOrderedOne.
Besides the safety issue, load on the electrical system is also a consideration, and the HID certainly helps there.
I opted for the slim digital ballast, to save space.
There is a E-BAy deal right now.
$99.00 for a pair of units free shipping within North America.
You could buy that and go halves with someone.
The 9003 HID is a BiXenon bulb (Both HI and Low).
I'll let you guys know how this works out.

My brother and i were going to go halves but for some reason that did not work, I think because of the ballast, anyways some part that you only got one of stopped the deal. I'd be intersted in HID for the driving lights also, not that would be a sweet set up and battery saver! MC
