good travel cover? 3 Years, 7 Months ago
I plan on taking my bike from the Boston area to Daytona and back this winter and it will be in the bed of a pickup truck. I need a cover that is designed for travel but I only found one and it does not cover the whole bike. Any ideas on a good cover?
Thanks

No cover is a good cover if it's going to be open to the wind. No matter how good you tie it down the winds going to move it and you'll wind up with scratchs and rubs in the paint. Easier to just wash the bike when you get there if it's dirty.

I agree. A flapping cover can wreck a paint job in a hurry. They are nice to have for overnight parking though.

They're right. Never haul a bike in a truck or on an open trailer with a cover on it. I'll destroy the paint and the cover probably won't survive anyway. A friend of mine ruined a custom paid job this way several years ago on his way to Bike Week. I told him that's what he gets for being a W.H.O.R.E. (We Haul Our Rides Everywhere)

never heard that acronym before..
Also be sure to secure the strap tails as well, I've seen them beat the heck out of a paint job...

Hey mate...I'll second that
If you're really concerned about damage, have you thought about shrink wrap..go to a local transport company and they could cover the bike in about 2 minutes...Just a thought

That's funny beacause I'm tagging along with two Harley's...but they get ride in the trailer.

Guess I need to work on a bigger trailer

I know most don't like covers when trailering in the open wind but when i trailered mine down to ohio bike week it got covered in black top from road paving and spent the next day trying to get it off without any paint damage so i went a mission and found and bought a GEZA cover and trailered at least 8 times since then and love it, it doesn't flap, covers the entire bike its great well worth the money. oh i tow behind a motorhome

That shrink wrap idea is probably a good one. I also noted that the GEZA cover mentioned fits like shrink wrap. I would shrink wrap my bike for a trip down to Florida, except that I might suffocate as I rode it.
