New Seat - Leather or Vinyl? 3 Years, 7 Months ago
I'm going to order a custom seat for hte R*. Should I pay a bit more for leather?...or is vinyl ok?

BTW.. I ride the bike to the office every day and it sits out in the weather a fair bit.

I like the look of leather, and have a leather Corbin. But, I have to say vinyl stands up better to the elements.

Thanks for feedback GJ. I'm not sure how much extra the leather is but the ad says...leather extra...enquire.

emu, go with vinyl. Mine is, I've had mine for over 3 years (over 30K miles) with my butt sitting on it. Been stuck in the rain a few times. Looks as good as new. Stitching holding, not cracking. Looks great. I have a mustang seat.

Leather will show its age over time (will show wear cracks), is not naturally waterproof (though cows are ? ).

My seats have always been vinyl Emu@Oz. If you don't treat the leather consistently it will definitely prove to be an expensive piece of junk after a while. A good vinyl seat can be made to look somewhat like leather and wear a long time. I like leather, but I'll keep it indoors out of the elements.

Not that it matters - I'm just curious I guess - what kinda seat are you looking at getting?

Mate, I make a mess at attaching photos. But here's the link to the site. I'm thinking of the fastback or low fastback...but with embossing / not flames.

I'm the rotten apple here , I guess. I prefer leather. I've had both (all stockers are vinyl) , But I've always wrapped my Corbins in leather. Had 5 , put a ton of miles on 'em , and give 'em a little love in the way of leather conditioner every once in a blue moon. That's just me though.....BB
