vibration at high speeds and rpm's 3 Years, 7 Months ago
Ok I have 1999 Roadstar with about 49,000 miles on it, at higher speeds ( above 70 ) and high rpm's, I have very bad vibration in the foot pads on my bike feel it through the whole bike. But if I pull in the clutch and let idle down and keep the speed I dont feel the vibration anymore. Ok here the question of the day does anyone else have this or am I just feeling something that has been there and just noticed it??

Welcome!
I have a new 2008 R* and I'm being told from this clinic and the dealer that the vibration is normal, "nature of the beast".

Try out some Throttle Rockers, they let you relax your grip and get rid of the numbness.

I guess my question is: Is this vibration new, or something you've always felt. With 49,000 miles on her, I'm thinking it's something new.

My first thoughts are check wheel balance, alignment, fork bearing tension, tire cupping.....

good ?'s soba, that would help narrow it down from many points,
could be just ready for some maintenance, valve adjustment? I know that at about 83mph the bike makes more valve noise on mine but push it past and it goes away..
has to be engine related as when he pulls in clutch the vibration dies down, might be a clutch or belt pulley, dampners on the rear pulley, take the load off and vibration stops?

need more info waso50, did you make any recent changes, adjust belt, windshield, tires...

Waso50 mine runs pretty much the same way as yours. At about 75 the vibration kicks in, predominately through the floorboards. I know mine is engine related because it will do that in any gear once I approach 3,000 RPM. This is actually one thing I like about new Harleys. At those revs, they are vibration free. I figure I'll just have to live with it as long as I have this bike.

Thanks for all the info and sorry yes I am new here and just joined. But yes I did adjust the belt it was loose it did help take some of it away. As I figured it is the nature of the beast as you all have mentioned many thing, most I have checked and re checked. Ok I will put out some info on myself I am a roady for about 2 years now and love it but always have been a Yamaha fan for many years. I reside in Tucson Arizona so as we speak it is great riding weather. My wife also rides her lil rebel with me as much as she can. So if your in the nieghborhood drop in.
