Man, you better not talk to the cop as he's measuring the level, you're sure give a higher reading. As a reference, here are the SPLs for two persons talking (not shouting) at various differences (level at the receiver's ear).: 0.25m 0.5m 1m 1.5m 2m 3m 70-76dB 65-71dB 58-64dB 55-61dB 52-58dB 50-56dB We talk at 76db, if your protesting to a PO then your probably higher than 87db at 20 inches. I guess they don't want people even yelling across the street. I got my Star brand new and my exhaust didn't have a label on it. I only peeled stickers off of my windshield, my engine guard, and the gas tank.
