This is a great motorcycle! 3 Years, 7 Months ago
The wife and I just returned from our first road trip on the newly acquired 2000 Silverado and
I am impressed! It runs smooth at 2500 rpm to 3000rpm (75mph to 90mph.) felt solid and stable cruising at 85mph with plenty of power and acceleration left. I ran like that for about 2 hours, non stop, around 150 miles, about emptied the tank and had to stop for gas.
For me, running the bike like that was the final test. I had done several weekends in the mountains (over 1400mi) and liked the way it performed. (have a few ground clearance issues that will be addressed) Now, with out doubt, it has proven to be a very capable highway & touring mount. Definitely a keeper!
While shopping for the Silverado, my wife says “Don’t you think you should ride one first, see if you will like it?”
I replied “I don’t need to ride one, I know what it is, It’s a big thumping air cooled V Twin with belt drive that has lots of power, handles better and stops faster than any of the other V Twins we have owned!” “You will like it, trust me.”

As I was filling the tank she say’s “You were right dear, it is a great motorcycle and I am glad you got it.”

I luv the bike and have learned a bunch from this web site, got to put the relay arm back in the stock position, do something about the exhaust tone and volume, then fine tune the engine. Looking forward to miles of smiles.

I was wondering the same thing, but I didn't want him to have to ask her! As long as she hasn't said anything, I'd leave well enough alone!

Sylvia is happy to have a backrest again and a less hyper bike. She's been hanging on the the back of a BWM Sport Touring bike for 3 years and is a whole lot more confortable kicking back on the Star.
Said her butt was starting to get sore after about 7 hrs.
Comfort was another reason we changed brands and type of bike.

Beware of that exhaust. I loved it from the drivers seat didn't sound too loud at all but my wife had a real hard time with ear ringing because of it. From her perch it is very loud at high speed.
