[quote] Plus with svs wouldnt the bike run bad when I first start it? I can start it and take off almost immediately and its smooth as silk. Its only on decel in a low gear, really winding the bike that it backfires. I can get it to do it cold idling too but it takes a couple twists of the throttle to get it to do it. It sorta misses for a second and then the next rev, POW. [quote]
Are you using the enricher when you start it because it should take a little warm up time before you can ride it and it be smooth as silk ..and if you are not having to use the enricher it may not be seating ..Coug

on a really warm day like the last two here I usually dont have to use the enricher. But thats something else to check. Might not be seating all the way in. GJCarving I went to that link and found one of their kits buy it now. I got it comin. Do those kits come with a cap for the vacuum on top of the intake or do I need to buy one. All I saw in the pic was the two metal plates.

Looking at the site on ebay it says: Kits Include :
Two Cylinder Head Port Cover Plates
Vacuum Cap for neatly plugging the vacuum port at the intake manifold
Illustrated AIS System Removal & Installation Instructions So I do believe it does come with the plug for the intake...Mine came with one, and something else that wasn't needed It said that it was for Warriors only. Kevin

Pulled my Plugs Finally 3 Years, 7 Months ago
|

Ok guys, this is the original thread where I was talking about my bike backfiring on heavy decel and shooting a 2 foot flame when it did. I checked the best I knew how for exhaust leaks, put some bolts back in for intake leaks(might have been leaking). A couple of folks suggested that I check my plugs. Well I did the AIS removal today and while the tank is off I removed my plugs. It doesnt look good. Especially the plugs on the rear. I took a pic of them but you cant see it really well. In the pic, the plugs are stuck in a box as they came out of the bike. So it would be like sitting in the seat. they are arranged exactly in the spots they came out of. The bottom two are the rear left and right, the top two are the front left and right. Can someone please look at these and give me some insight. The rear two were almost black but it looked like the electrode was still barely visible. Not wet, just black soot. The front left was a little black but looked way better than the rear. the one that looked the best was the front right. It was like a whitish gray. I left the tank off after the AIS removal and left the plugs out(put rags in the holes till I put em back. I am going to buy another set of plugs(same as stock) tomorrow. This bike doesnt even have a full 5000 miles on it yet. Can anyone tell me what would make these plugs look so bad. Also, can anyone tell me the gap for the new plugs so I'll have that ready. Thanks for your time, Nick

Gap new plugs at .034. How much do you use your choke? Do you need the choke to start the bike when it's cold? Have you done the choke knob trim? You might try turning the PMS in a little. Have you checked your float level? Plugs only tell part of the story.

LE...looks pretty rich to me. I'm still trying to get mine right. My rear plugs looked a little worse than yours. Mine were black to the point the bike was cutting out. Probably need to lean it out some. I'll let the carb gurus take over from here.
Gap the new plugs at .034.
