Me thinks I got ya all beat even though it is nothing to brag about. I normally always run my tank till i have to ride on reserve for at least 15 miles (keeps the bottm of your tank from building up crud) and after filling up for about 50miles. Then I turn back my petcock to normal position. When I go on reserve I always turn my little gas cap key hole door to the side (to remind me that I am on reserve) then after I ride around 50 miles after fil up I turn it back along with the petcock.

Now I'm sure you know what is coming next. Well your right. Put bike on reserve (forget to turn gas cap key door to side) ride for awhile and go fill up. Start riding (petcock still on reserve) and enjoy my normal 180-200 miles of riding before it starts to backfire and cough (time to switch to reserve)reach down and guess what? Oh heck still on reserve from last fill up . YUPPER totally out of gas. Luckily this happened close to home on a normal street close to a gas station.

And now you know the rest of the story. OSO

How do you know you did it it ,,,maybe some vindictive sob just switched the valve for you...

My first guess was the kill switch was on .

TOPNOTCH - How far did you get on the tank?? Just wondering, furthest I've ever gone is for a total of about 185 miles, or about 25 miles after reserve hit .

Hey Flashback, I never thought of that but I guess anything is possible nowadays. Just would not think someone could be that crude.

Hey Cass, I usually get between 160-200 miles before I have to switch on reserve, depending on my driving habits. I can get between 40-50 miles a gallon. Getting down at 80-100 miles an hour on the open freeway It will drop tp 37 mpg. Just casual cruzzing at 60-65 then I can get 50mpg.

Anyways do a search on Gas Milage and you will get tons of information from past threads.

No problem Topnotch....i was just wondering how many miles you got till empty reserve...I've never (knock on wood) had to find out. 100mph, thats about 15 mph more than i really want to try. I push 80 and start thinking about Catastrophic failure and parts laying strewn all along the highway...mine And the Roadstar. btw, nice color...they go faster

I think if I recall right it was around 210 miles that paticular time. So I guess 210 divided by 5.2 gls would have been an avg of 40.3 mpg.
