Can V&H Longshots fit a 2006 RoadStar?? 3 Years, 7 Months ago
I have a 2006 Roadie, and took off the Longshots that were on the bike when I bought it, and sold to someone on Ebay. She is being a real pain in the a$$ and claims they will not fit, as the longshots were only for 99-03. As I took them off my'06 I know darn well they fit, but what is the difference between the years of bikes. Even V&H website says they are only for those years. Why did they fit just fine on mine?? Just curious, as this is becoming a real mess.

IowaRoadie , in 04 the Road Star went to 1700 , and for some reason V&H claim their pipes from 99-03 (1600) won't fit 04-up . But it's been My personal experience that with the V&H propipe (which they make the same claim with , BTW) , that they fit fine , with no issue.

Now someone has bought your pipes , and after running into some installation issues and reading some place that they won't fit , feels you have just misrepresented your selling item? Yours is a 1700 , so why won't they fit hers?..........BB

IowaR, I have bought and installed old style VH Longshoots on my 07 R*, and yes VH claimed that they would not fit ( a lot of you know what), they fit just fine, tell her to have no fear and enjoy the pipes.

Cheers

I tried to tell her this, but she is hung up on what V&H is telling her. not sure where to go from here, as she says they will not fit. Now she has disputed the charge. i tried to be fair, but that is getting me nowhere.

I don't understand V&H. If their Longshots HS will bolt right up to both 16 & 1700's that tells me both bikes are the same. So why wouldn't the old longshots bolt right up too? I think they even told someone once that the cylinders are taller on the 1700 motor.

It doesn't sound like a fitment issue .. it's sounds like 'Ops, I bought these pipes and I don't like them'.

You can try and convince her but I think if it's the later then you need to recognize it and move on, otherwise you're going to get real frustrated trying to convince her otherwise.

They told me this exact thing yesterday. But we were talking about the ProPipe, and I think he said it's not an issue with the Longshots.

He said the cylinders were taller, and that guys who mount PP's on 17's have to bend or stress the headers just a bit and that they break over time. I told him seems hard to believe since I've read soooo many reports about PP's on 17's without issues. He said he understood, but wouldn't condone the fit. He also said the PP was for sure the best for power and torque, but that they didn't sell well enough and that's why they didn't make them for the 102ci.

Seems like since the Longshots are separate pipes it wouldn't be an issue.

Of course, the real issue here is eBay, which is always a mixed bag of issues these days it seems. I agree with Doc, might have to chalk it up to "whatever" and re list them as for 1700 only. Or, you might want to point out to her that other V&H pipes fit both 16/17.

Good luck.

I have tried all of the above with her, to no avail. Even gave a link to the forum discussion. The bad thing is she has already disputed the charge, and they have removed the money from my account until it is resolved. All she has to do is send Info from V&H that they do not fit to Paypal authorities and it is a done deal. They will say I misrepresented them, and i am screwed. She went so far as to say I am a liar for stating in the auction I had them on my 2006 1700 model, which she claims to be impossible.
what it comes down to is she wants brand new pipes for a steal Ebay price, and they are not brand new. Some people should be banned from Ebay. I have offered a refund minus shipping and she refused it, as she wants her shipping costs refunded as well. Can you tell i am ready to pull my hair out over this matter?!!!!!
