Yep, transfer case was for bike length and appearance only... and a chain? Are you nuts? My jacket still has oil stains all over the back from those olden days!

Belts forever! Long live the drive belt!!!

Hey, do whatever you want... just be sure you vote right, will ya???

Not a big fan of chain. The only beneift to them is that you can change it out quickly when it wears out....which is quite often. They stretch, they are noisy and are prone to snap under hard acceleration if not tensioned just right. And heaven forbid you ever have to lube it! Throws crap everywhere. Had chain on all my old chops in the past..always wanted to throw a belt on 'em but never did. Maybe its just me, but I sure dont want a chain on mine.

Same here, never did here the end of the wife getting chain lube on her shoes....... belts forever here to

Yeah...

Check out my pic's of the rightside drive on my Roadie...
No trans-case...that allowed me to shorten the bike by over 4 inches...yet,keeping the belt drive.

I mean no offense whatsoever, but I wouldn't want to shorten my bike... by 4" or any amount... if anything, I'd want to go a bit longer, so as to stretch out a bit more. I'm an even 6', and I find the stock ergonometrics to be a bit on the tight side for my size.

Beyond that... I think just making the appearance totally different, by doing away with the transfer case, and driving the rear wheel with a belt from the right side just makes it totally unique and therefore cool!

Every Roadie rider will want to study it just to figure why yours is so very different... and those that know the real reason a transfer case exists in the first place will appreciate you doing away with it for a whole different look without harming the mechanics and workings of it in the least.

Even on Harleys and customs, the divorced transmission is probably 4-6 inches away from the engine; seems like noone ever moves it closer or further away. Wonder why?
