ahhhhhhhh broke down in centre al will not run :( 3 Years, 6 Months ago
I was traveling from centre to rome today was running close to empty she started sputtering like normal so reached down to turn the petcock to reserve when it died riding down the road. I pulled off on a side road,tried to start it back up and it would start but if i turned the accelerator it would die. I blew out the filter to make sure it was not a clog. I pulled the sir filter off but nothing really made it any better after fiddling with the air filter i got it to move in gear for a split second then back to the ole sputter and die if i turned the handle. somebody please help it is in centre i am in rome need to find a trailer to move it to rome plus once i get it here have no idea where to start looking to fix any help is appreciated thanks guys

sure she wasn't already in reserve? Put some gas in (at least a gallon) and try again. Its the most obvious thing.

Try draining the tank all the way before you put new gas in. Could be water down there in the reserve regions. The water doesn't have to be from a bad gas station, If your tank condensated on the inside all that water would go to the bottom...aka...reserve.

Re:ahhhhhhhh broke down in centre al will not run :( 3 Years, 6 Months ago
I had exactly the same thing happen a couple months ago. I was headed to work in the morning with the gas low and expecting the main to run out. IT DID! When I switched to reserve nothing happened. I forund that if I give it full choke it would start and idle; but if I touched the choke to push it toward off it would quit, or if I touched the throttle to give it some power it would quit! Called for a rescue mission and when I got it to the shopfound that the slow jet was totally corked up. Blew on the jet backwards with compressed air and that did the trick. Put the carb back together and she runs like a charm; hasn't skipped a beat since.
Now I ask how does the jet get clogged when there is a screen on the fuel valve in the tank and a filter in the line? The bike does not sit, it had 7,300 miles when I bought it 4 years old and now 2 1/2 years later it has over 45,000 miles.

Remove the float bowl and remove the slow jet. Hold it up to the sky or up to a light and you and you should be able to see through it, if you can't see through it then blow through it backwards. Reassemble everything and crank her up, hopefully problem solved!

as soon as i get it home i will try i looked in the tank and there is gas in there slyguy that was the first thing i checked i had the air filter off and tried giving it gas and it looked like the jet that is right there in front of you when looking where the filter sits only misted every few times i tried giving it gas unfortunately i do not have it here at this moment but will try to look through the jet when i get it here

would sea foam work to fix any water that might have collected in it i find it would run if the choke was full on and would continue to run even with the choke off but as soon as i turned the handle off it went well sputter then went off i could get it to reve a little in neutral but once i put her n gear she was dead

If your worried about water I would just drain whats left in the tank into a can, then put fresh gas in it..

Had the same thing happen to me. Called AAA and they came out with a gas can. I would give it a little gas and it would die, but would start normally and idle. He said it was due to air in the line. Kept slowly working the throttle till I got it to rev up. Got a couple of backfires out of it and then it ran fine. Haven't had a problem since (been over a year), but then I haven't run it out of gas again either.

turn the key on and off and see if you hear the pump run normal, it shuts off after a few seconds even if it doesn't pump gas... do not know if it is an overheat thermal thing or no pressure time out on the pump, but it will stop pumping so if you turn key on and off a couple times it should pump gas to the carb...
let us know what happens
