Clifford.... is the carb heater working to "heat" fuel even on hot July days?

If that is true, it seems that it would help to enable "puking." True?

Maybe I would be well served to pull the fuse on it... what do you think?

Thanks

If my carb were puking I would pull the fuse to the heater ....you can always put it back if you have icing problems....Coug

Yea... that is exactly what I am thinking. I wasn't aware that you could do this and not cause some other type of problem.

Yea... I always have a puking problem..... it sucks big time, and that is the only problem with this motorcycle that I've had.

LC there is a thermo switch in that circuit that would turn the heater on and off, however if it is not functioning properly and I would assume that it reads cool conditions before it comes on to avoid boiling the gas so there may be no reason to unplug it SO you need to find out for sure what activates it to be sure it might help to unplug it Ill try and find my wiring diagram see if I can cypher it ....Coug

IMO ... no ... the two are not related. Carb puking is similar to gasoline boiling, which the carb heater does not do. It only warms the carb slightly.

Carb puking is a symptom of other problems.

But on the other hand ..... nothing venture, nothing gained. If you have chronic puking, pull the plug and tell us what happens.

Good point Doc ...if it is set to run at a specific temp below the gas boil point then even if it ran because of a bad thermo switch it would never be the cause of reaching the gas boil temperature because my guess it is probably not capable of producing those temps... oh and thanks for the insight in the above thread as to where the heating occurs ...Coug

Reread my last post I changed the wording hopefully it is better the heater circuit runs from the ignition switch on to the heater fuse that is the 2nd from the left in the box under the seat it is a 10 amp fuse and from there it runs to the carb heater thermo switch to the carb heater under the carb..hope this helps...yes it needs an electrical source to answer your last question
wiring sucks at least you are not looking for a short....yet ..Coug

Also the heater is there to heat the gas going into the carb if I understand it correctly.

I've been trying to find a good way to add an accessory 12v switched wire and I think I found it from your post. Thanks for the info!!!
I bought a Painless Wiring 70207 assy for my RS 01 and needed a 12v switch ps source.

I would not hook that fuse box up to the carb heater wires.
Hook it directly to the batery with a relay. The relay will be operated by the main switch, when you turn on the key it will activate the relay which will supply power to the new fuse box and to whatever equipment is on those fuses.

The 70207's relay is connected directly to the battery. The 12v source that I will be using from the carb heater fuse connection is used only to turn on the relay. The 70207 offers 4 switched outputs and 3 full-time on outlets. unless you think that thing will draw too much current through the carb heater fuse connection.

The relay coil will pull very little current. The relay can be hooked up to the front and or rear running light as well.

Lakecharles,if you dont mind spending 1.5 hrs and $20 i may have a carb puke fix for you.

Go to the post currently showing titled " carb puke " and read what i posted there that fixed my bikes bad carb puke. But if you decide to try it make sure you use the same insualting material i say to use along with doing everything thing else with respect to insulating the fuel system from excessive heat and it should stop the carb puke or at least greatly reduce the intensity or how often it pukes.

When i first got my bike in feb. and got it home it puked..the gas was boiling on the engine, scared the s*#% out of me.I did that many times and it was freezing outside.Since i ran carb cleaner in the puel, rejetted the carb and it has not happened again. The fuel line on the overflow vent is a great idea, but this common problem with road*s should not be happening. Is this a good reason to move/remove the fuel pump and open up that space so more air can pass thru the jugs and get to the carb..?? You would think Yami would offer a larger capacity fuel bowl replacement to help with this problem..they have done nothing in 12 years to adress this problem..im just glad that my 2 bikes dont do it anymore..
