Yakman, I'm very sorry for your friend.

GJ, hang in there. You've proved to yourself that you can do it.

When you quit:

* In 20 minutes your blood pressure will drop back down to normal.
* In 8 hours the carbon monoxide levels in your blood stream will drop by half, and oxygen levels will return to normal.
* In 48 hours your chance of having a heart attack will have decreased. All nicotine will have left your body. Your sense of taste and smell will return to a normal level.
* In 72 hours your bronchial tubes will relax, and your energy levels will increase.
* In 2 weeks your circulation will increase, and it will continue to improve for the next 10 weeks.
* In three to nine months coughs, wheezing and breathing problems will dissipate as your lung capacity improves by 10%.
* In 1 year your risk of having a heart attack will have dropped by half.
* In 5 years your risk of having a stroke returns to that of a non-smoker.
* In 10 years your risk of lung cancer will have returned to that of a non-smoker.
* In 15 years your risk of heart attack will have returned to that of a non-smoker.

Also, from personal experience: You will awaken more refreshed in the mornings and with that, the Morning Wood Faery will resume her visits.

Hey Frank...or someone that has all the answers.... why are you still smoking?

Good luck on your journey GJ. I dip snuff and know what quitting is all about. It is HELL. I beg you not to switch to snuff to avoid smoking, I've done both and snuff is worse.

Whatever you do, dont stop quitting. if you slip and sneak one, quit again.

I think it's time I quit too. good luck to ya.

Oddly enough last December I got the urge to quit, so I went to the Doc and got some new pill that came out and quit on January 1st. It’s still working! It’s been what? 11 months and no smoking! Don’t seem to miss it a bit now, it was rough in the first few months but I got to thinking how much crap I could buy for the chicken if I didn’t spend the money on smoking…. That helped a lot!!

I smoked 2 packs a day, @ $4.50 a pack that's $9 a day, times 365 days in a year = $3285 a year! or $273.85 a month, that's a bike payment! So now I ride instead of smoke!
