Road Star Clinic Ported Manifold FAQ 3 Years, 10 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Road Star Clinic Ported Manifold FAQ

I plan to port my manifold using the tech tip article http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/53/96/.

Currently have the stock air box and plan to keep it for now until I can save up some more $$. I have heard that there is a way to get more air flow through the stock air box/filter, and that there was a tipsheet on that within the Road Star Clinic (I can't find it). Anyone have any tips on that? Should I get another stock air box to modify; and does anyone have one they want to get rid of?

I saw that thread on Delphi Mark.

For some reason we don't have it, but have permission to publish it. We will work on getting it imported, but in the meantime go to FatBike's original website and you will be able to find it there:

Thanks. Looks pretty easy. I am concerned about water exposure with the way this one looks very open on the front side. I wonder if I could get the same benefits from knocking out most of the inside/back side (closest to the carb) of the box. It would be a little bit better protected from rain...

Post edited by: mwebster2, at: 2005/01/16 14:41

If I were to do this, I would do it how FATBIKE has done it. Cooler air is better for the engine and power, putting holes in the back will draw warm engine air in. A lot like the stock box does. Drilling in the back would work, but not the optimal way to go. As for rain ... yeah, that is a concern for a paper filter, maybe get a K&N to replace the stock one. Also remember you will get more intake sound with this mod, or any quality air intake system.
