Do you mean a stock grip? I already had the kurys on mine when I got it, but I've removed it a few times to put things on the handlebar (PTT switch), and a good hard twist was all it took...now I would imagine the right grip would take a little more planning and thought.

so do you intend to put the same grip back on? If not, follow the instructions from kury:

http://www.roadstarmagazine.com/images/pdfs/kuryakyn_isogrips.pdf

they basically have you destroy the old grip, which is why I asked....if you want to preserve the grip, you'll just have to be careful...use some WD-40 and work it off gently

I've never removed the stockers, but on the kurys its all one piece...just slides on and off. There are screws for the right side that are rather important, but I don't think so on the left...

Use an air compressor and a Blow nozzle to blow up under the grip using a flat tip screwdriver to lift the edge slightly. The air takes a little while but be patient it will work loose just keep twisting on it.

Work it loose with compressed air, or some lube and small pick or stick to break any seal between bar and rubber. I then used two of my very large equal length screwdrivers holding them opposite to each other or back to back straddling the bar (one on top the bar other on the bottom) holding the ends and working slowly, work the grip off the end of the bar.
One thing be very careful you do not pull the bike over on your self.

the aftermarket grips are one piece

As well the 1700's have solid end caps that screw into the end of the handle bar...
