You got that right, Warstar.. I spent MANY of my younger years on a model R John Deere. You couldn't tell what color that tractor was, and it only shined when you spilled diesel on it, and that was only until it soaked into the dirt. I can still hear and smell that tractor.

Hey, Did you give up on the right side drive? I saw your photo link on Looney's page, you really need to post that here as well. Looking good, Crash

We have a big fair up this way every fall, and I seldom miss the tractor pull. Every year the old 2 wheel drive farm tractors (Minneaplois Moline - Deere - International - Massey Harris - etc.) outpull the tricked out 4 wheel drive trucks that pull right after them by several thousand pounds... and they do so at less than half the RPMs! Gotta love that 400lb flywheel on the old Deeres (and the 40lb crankshaft on the Roadstar)

Yep. And, it's a sound/smell you never forget. There was a guy here playing a youtube clip of an old steam engine the other day, and I had to get up and see what that sound was as it brought back vivid memories. Then, I saw a couple of good youtube clips of some of those pulls with the R. Amazing what just two cylinders could do (oops, forgot momentarily who my audience was )...

Where can we go and see latest pictures, WarStar??

Warstar,

Like the '73 650. It looks like an all original, low-mileage example. I had a red and white '72. One of the prettiest stock street bikes made, I thought.

The project's really coming along, and it will certainly be unique!
