Darn Oldie,
If you are going to make the trip in one day, then I agree I-39 to Bloomington, but if it ends up being a 2 day, I can take you on some pretty awesome river roads from the LaSalle-Peru-Spring Valley area down through Peoria and then 24 over to the Quincy-Hannibal area. From there it looks like good riding no matter which destination we end up with.

Spud,
I too vote for a central stay around the Cuba, St. James, or Rolla area. I have never been to the area, but it sounds here like there are some good rides from that point in just about every direction. After doing a little googling, it looks like a great area to base out of.

hello Spud, don't know the local terrain, so i'll trust your judgement. i for one prefer a bed to the ground at this point in my life. nothing fancy. cheap & safe works for me. from what i'm reading, interest is growing here in ohio. i'll be glad to help out where i can. any ohio riders interested, PM me & we'll get this party started

Why stop at 24? Keep going on down to Beardstown Rt 100 will get you down to Hardin and you can cross the Missisippi at the Golden Eagle ferry into St. Charles.

If necessary I could do the camping thing but I'd need access to electricity for my CPAP machine (sleep apnea). A bed would be "more better" .

Looked at the room rates. A lot cheaper if some double up in a room. Roadie riders and roomies.
