cable lubeing question 3 Years, 5 Months ago
I've got new Barnett ss cables coming. Do these have a nylon liner? If so, I don't think they are suppose to be lubed. Is polyethylene the same as nylon? I think thats what kind of liner they have. Is there anything I need to do with them before installing them? I would really hate to ruin a new set of cables. Thanks

If you got the high efficiency clutch cables the cables are coated with nylon and require a silicone lube and they also recommend silicon based lube on all their cables . ....Coug

Found this after poking around their site

Thanks a lot Cougar!! Good link you posted. I noticed that they pre-lube their cables and that is one thing I was curious about. Thanks again to you Cougar. (At least somebody on here gave me an answer instead of all the usual b.s.ing that goes on here!)

my barnett clutch cable lasted about 20.000 miles. I replaced the inner cable two times since then, the first lasted only 2000 miles. keep it lubed, especially at the fitting at the clutch lever

Your welcome 1700 however I would point out that BS is the glue that makes this site a good one.It adds to the site to have someone here most of the time that can actually help you with a problem when you run in to one.I agree sometimes you have to wade through the BS to get the info you want but it is a lot better than having to pay someone to do it for you .It is also setup where if you do not want the BS there is a very good tech section here to be read .Hope the install works out ...Merry Christmas ...Coug
