This thread discusses the Content article: Start Here: Complete Engine Tear Down

BROKEN OIL PUMP SHAFT
Do I need to brake the case to retreive the 2 tips to the shaft or will these stay in the bottom of the case by the pickup screen?
Your help would be appreciated

If I was you I would pull the drain plug and go fishing with a flexi magnet. Also if you run a very strong magnet along the bottom of the pan you will get them eventually. A couple of beers and patients will get it done. If you don't want to do that then leave them should be fine. Get a magnetic drain plug and one day you may get a suprise when you do an oil change

That is what I was thinking, when you look down inside at the oil pump their is a valley that the pickup screen sits in and I dont feel that the pieces will be able to move up into the gears or crank shaft, and a small magnet is a great Idea
